Indian stock markets will be closed on the occasion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is celebrated on 27 August 2025. The big online marketplaces for stocks, the National Stock Exchange(NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE), have closed their markets because of the festival. Not only the festival, but also the markets get suspended based on holidays like October 2nd, October 21st and 22nd, November 5th, and December 5th. MCX Opens in Evening, NCDEX Remains Closed All Day
Because of this Stock Market Holiday on Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, there will be no activity in electronic gold receipts, equities, securities lending and borrowing, currency, and equity derivatives. According to the Multi-Commodity Exchange(MCX), the market will remain shut down in the morning session and open in the evening. Now, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will be shut down for the whole of 27 August 2025 and will open on 28 August 2025. Then, the regular activities will be performed.
From 28 August 2025, the Indian Equity Markets will open and follow regular trading sessions. The Pre-Open session period is 9:00 to 9:15 a.m., and the Normal Market hours are from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On weekends, Saturday and Sunday, the stock markets remain closed.
