CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on September 12, 2025, at 10:10 a.m.

The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, BJP leaders, former Presidents, Vice Presidents, chief ministers, and governors attended the ceremony.

Jagdeep Dhankhar, the 14th Vice President, resigned on July 21, 2025, due to health issues.

Dhankhar served for 2 years and 344 days before resigning, with two years left in his term.

CP Radhakrishnan, a former Maharashtra Governor and NDA candidate, won the Vice President election with 452 votes.

His opponent, B. Sudarshan Reddy from Telangana, secured 39.90% of the votes (300 votes) and had earlier served as a Supreme Court judge from 2007 to 2011.

Following his move to the Vice President’s post, Acharya Devvrat, the Gujarat Governor, was given additional charge of Maharashtra Governor by President Droupadi Murmu.

Born on May 4, 1957, in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, CP Radhakrishnan rose from BJP Tamil Nadu secretary to MP, state president, and now Vice President of India.
